Somatic Psychotherapy

If life has become burdensome, confusing, or distressing, please don’t hesitate to be in touch to discuss getting some extra support. I know that contacting a therapist can be one of the most difficult things a person does in their lives. I’ve also seen, though, how many people are incredibly grateful later on that they did so. As modern people, we live in a world that is stressful and at times overwhelming, and just about everyone could benefit from a little more support. Our work together will be a space for you to regenerate, re-balance, and come back into the fullest and truest expression of who you are. I have been trained in the resolution and renegotiation of trauma, which for many people is a stumbling block to true fulfillment.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, as well as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. The somatic psychotherapy I practice is similar in many ways to traditional therapy sessions, with the two of us seated in chairs and using dialogue to explore your situation. One of the unique aspects of somatic work, though, is that I’ll be inquiring from time to time about sensations in your body. In the past, the body was left out of therapy, as the practitioner focused on thoughts and emotions, but a great deal of research suggests that including the body in therapy leads to more beneficial outcomes. Sessions are generally 60 minutes.

Please feel free to be in touch to discuss the possibility of working together. I offer a free initial consultation (up to 20 minutes), which would allow us to get to know each other and determine if it’s a good fit.
