Essence Recovery Project (Co-Facilitated by Mahshid Hager, MFT, SEP)

This online course will offer a refuge in which the emergence of what’s most true about you can be celebrated. We will look at practices, perspectives, and principles that support being here now, with self-acceptance and a deep curiosity about the world. We will explore our organismic wisdom, the stirrings and promptings that arise, first, in our tissues. Through the cultivation of creativity and self-reflection, each of us will discover our own unique gifts—for which the world has been waiting.

In this training program we will cultivate inquiry and develop new capacities for self-knowing and development. We will be focusing specifically on particular themes that we trust will guide you toward a fuller unfolding of your uniqueness and capacity for belonging:

~

Cultivating Creativity

Spotting procrastination, perfectionism, and prognostication, and how these interfere in the expression of our creative impulse, we will look at the impediments to self-expression that we face and how to work creatively with self-aggression and fear.

~

Understanding the Mismatch Hypothesis

Seeing how the modern world doesn’t fulfill our evolutionarily-conditioned expectations, we will discuss ways to come closer to meeting our needs on an organismic level, seeing how this frees up a vital force within us.

~

Reconnecting with Nature

Recognizing the desire the human animal has to feel embedded in the world, we will develop practices for connecting with nature, discovering the wellspring of creative energy available to us as we plug back into our Earthly home.

~

Working with Shame

The culture we’re in requires shame to function, and we’ll discover the ways shame blocks our full manifestation, finding paths through the tangle of self-recrimination toward a celebration of what’s most true about ourselves.

~

Understanding Identity

Our social milieu has laden our bodies and psyches with extraneous layers of meaning; we will look at what of this we want to celebrate and what we may want to de-emphasize in the way we meet the world and its inhabitants.

~

Processing Grief

Seeing what’s been lost, and the time that’s been squandered, can create regrets and a quality of grief; we will recognize how this, too, is a pathway opening to greater creativity and wholeness.

~

Developing Authentic Spirituality

Moving beyond the course, we will look into the ways of connecting with spirit, developing our own personal spiritual expression to nourish us on the long road toward re-inhabiting our essence.
